Spark is 10!! June 2025 was a great afternoon celebrating Spark’s 10 year birthday for National Volunteers Week! Many of the Spark team past and present along with friends and supporters were able to celebrate with us at Burntwood Memorial Institute.
You are what Spark is all about! Who would have thought all those years ago we would be where we are now. Spark is made up of many beautiful people doing wonderful things- making an impact in Burntwood and beyond. Rhiannon Heming and Elaine Micklewright were recognised with awards and Ellie did a great job in reminding us of the qualities of Nannie Lin. This year the first also without Steph; our cherished friend, volunteer and trustee of Spark who is also very much loved and missed. Paulina came back all the way from Poland and we also marked Kathy Jones’s retirement from Spark! Kathy has been our cleaner for the whole 10 years and before that Springhill Children’s Centre.
A big thank you to everyone who made our 10th birthday afternoon possible. Especially Suzanne, Aum, and all the helpers; Richard Westwood and Linda Hood for talking so eloquently about Spark; Paul Taylor was so helpful with IT and a lot more; a wonderful buffet from DP Rodgers Catering and donations of wonderful cakes – including a special 10 year cake from Ben. Yum! What a great party together to mark Volunteers Week 2025. Happy Birthday Spark!
