As part of our Volunteers Week celebrations, Spark held a special event to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who give their time, energy and compassion to support families across our community.
Every day, our volunteers make a real difference. Whether they’re welcoming families, supporting groups and events, sharing their skills or simply offering a listening ear, they help make Spark the warm, supportive place it is.
During our celebration, we were proud to present two very special awards, recognising volunteers whose dedication and commitment have made an exceptional impact.
Spark Volunteer of the Year Award 2026
Our first award was the Spark Volunteer of the Year Award, presented in loving memory of our much-loved Nannie Lin.
This award recognises a volunteer who has gone above and beyond in supporting Spark and the families we work with.
We are delighted to announce that Emma Shippey was named our 2026 Volunteer of the Year.
Emma’s kindness, commitment and passion shine through in everything she does, and we are incredibly grateful for the difference she continues to make.

The Stephanie Edwards Impact Award 2026
Our second award was the Stephanie Edwards Impact Award, created in loving memory of our much-missed volunteer and trustee, Stephanie Edwards.
Stephanie was full of integrity, grace, warmth and fun. She inspired us, challenged us and helped shape Spark into the organisation it is today. This annual award honours someone who reflects those same qualities through their dedication, compassion and lasting impact on others.
This year’s recipient is Cal Barrow.
Cal has made a significant difference to Spark and to the families we support, and we are delighted to recognise his outstanding contribution with this very special award.
